I am going to use the stock heatsink, yes i know it is bad but it is a mATX Motherboard so i can't use any aftermarket CPU coolers. For the stock heatsink, it comes pre applied with thermal paste but do i smear the surface of the thermal paste on the CPU? I already have a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate 32 Bit and 64 Bit, and a friend said that he would lend me a retail version of Windows XP Professional 32 Bit if i would need it, i am planning on using the Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit.If anything is in compatible then please allow me to e mail you for further discussion short lol . note i am not having computer troubles i want to build my own pc i would like to know how i can figure out if computer parts are compatible with each other for a gaming pc. i know that DDR2 Ram will not work in a DDR3 slot on a motherboard but that is about it. how can i determine if parts are compatible and what particular parts do i really have to worry about compatibility with and which do i need to not worry so much about or not at all.

How do you know if a computer part is DOA (Dead on Arrival)?
I want to know how companies figure out whether something is DOA. How can they tell if its physically damaged by you it or it was broken already beforehand. I want to be able to figure out whether it was DOA myself. IS there anything noticeable common about DOA products?What if somehow they think you did physical damage to it even when you yourself know you did not.
