Question: Computer won't fully start up.? (Posted by: Chris on 2010-02-08 13:24:31) My computer won't fully start up it shows a black screen with white letters and offers 5 choises for starting it up 3 are safe modes 1 is normal the problem is that no matter what i pick it will show XP try to load up but goes right back to the black screen with white letters. Any help is appreciated. |

Posted by: Killamaker11 on 2010-02-08, 13:32:34 Try each safe mode and if and when you boot into the computer delete anything you downloaded off the internet. If that isn't the problem then check all the wires inside your computer, especially the hard drive cable. |

Posted by: Phil_d10 on 2010-02-08, 13:54:41 Could be a couple of things. Did you run out of free hard drive space? or it could be a corrupt system file. Boot from the installation CD and press r for recovery console. after login on type "dir ". this will give you a directory of c:\ documents and setting\username. at the bottom it sould tell you how many bytes free. type "Chkdsk.exe / r c: " this will scan your hard drive and try to recover bad data. this sometimes it works if it finds the system file and can recove it. restart your pc. If not you might have to re-install the OS. Good luck. |
