I just purchased a portable hard drive. Can't edit the information. Why?
I purchased a portable hard drive, and transferred my mp3s onto it. On some of them it just gives the track name without the artist or album. For some reason it won't let me update or edit the information. When I click on " rename" it stays on the track listing. And when I click " properties" it won't let me edit the info there either. Am I missing something?

How to install operating system on a new hard drive but i don't have disc and the old HD is burnt out.....?
what can i do? i don't have the disc and my old HD is dead so how do i get the OS to the new HD?

Computer not recognizing new hard drive. Help?
I'm trying to replace my notebook PC's old hard drive with a new one, but when I put the new one in, the computer doesn't recognize that there's a drive in there.I've tried booting from an HP recovery disc, which gives me error 0x400110020000100A. I've also tried booting from the Vista Ultimate disc, which doesn't work because it doesn't recognize that there's a hard drive available on which to install the OS.One possible problem I can think of is that the new hard drive is SATA, and I'm not 100 % sure the old one was also SATA. They look exactly the same physically, and from what I can tell, IDE drives look different from SATA drives. Any helpful information about SATA vs IDE would be really helpful

Did i receive a fake 120 Gb xbox hard drive ?
I ordered on on amazon from therealdeal4 and when i got it. it was flimsy and the side of the hard drive was plastic not chrome. But when i plugged it in it worked i just dont know how reliable it will be. So is it a fake ?There was a microsoft symbol there too but it seems kinda cheep. I dont know if i wanna keep it because i dont really know how to ship it back anyways

Ok, I have two physical hard drives C & D, I ve installed D after I had my computer for awhile. Both drives are NTFS formatted, and both have Windows XP Home on them. At first when I would start up my computer, there was two lines on the screen that basically said the same, Windows 12345 something. first line on top was C drive and the other was D drive. Well you could choose between them to work off of, C or D I lost the Hal.Dil on the D drive so I had to reinstall Windows XP back on it, then I got a bug on C drive, so I had to reinstall Windows XP back onto it Now when you turn on my computer, it just automatically takes you to C drive I don t have a chose of which drive I want to use any longer. How do I get my screen to display both drives again And yes, I can still get to my D drive through my C side, by bring up My Computer panel and clicking on it, but I want to use it completely, as if it was the only one I hope I explained everything because I have gotten answers from using Run Commands ranging from Bug bunny Benny and the jets C windows, to using every virus detector they make

Is it more important to have more RAM or a bigger hard drive?
I'm looking at buying a laptop for simple tasks. Check email, surf the net, download music and movies to burn and then delete off the laptop and maybe play simple games like CSI or Agatha Christie.I have found 2 HP Pavilion Notebooks that have exactly the same features and are exactly the same price. The only difference is one has 3gb of RAM and the other has 4gb. But the one with 3gb has a 320gb hard drive whereas the other one only has a 250gb hard drive.The speed of the notebook is important to me. I don't need to play flashy games on it but I would like it to boot up and run quickly. With that in mind is more RAM or more disk space more important to have?Also if I did decide to upgrade the hard drive or memory, which would be cheaper to buy? More RAM or more disk space?

FIXED. i went onto time machine and formatted the hard drive now works perfectly well as external hard drive and time machine.

In the hard drive under "places" next to the house icon it says "user". How can I personalize this?

What is the best way to replace a hard drive without having to reinstall the OS?
I'm running win7 32 bit and have an external 1TB usb hard drive.I want to replace my 132 GB C drive with something closer to 1TB.My plan is to use windows backup and restore utility to make an image of my computer C drive and save it to the external hard drive. I've made a system repair disc using windows backup and restore. So then I just turn off my computer remove the old drive, install the new. I won't have an operating system, but I should be able to boot up from the repair disc and restore the image from my external drive to the new drive. Is it that simple? The only problem I worry about is whether the computer will be able to recognize and download the image from the external hard drive without an OS, but maybe booting from the repair disc makes that possible??

How to recover data from my external hard drive?
Its a WD 320 gb external hard drive and it stopped working after it fell down a few times. Now it says 'USB device not recognisable' on any system with any data cable. There's a lot of data in it that i need. I can't spend too much on recovering data, but is there a way in which I can atleast view the data the files in the hard drive and make a list atleast?
