How can i boot my new wd hard drive when my hp dv2000 is on a black screen?
i just put in my new western digital hard drive on my hp dv2000 laptop and my laptop just goes on a black screen and it sounds like the disk drive is trying to load something and i put my boot cd in and it doesnt load up or anything just a black screen what do i do? can i get step by step answers

New WD hard drive problems?
Hi, I recently bought an old 60gb western digital WD600BB 00CAA1. It's IDE. I put it in my old crappy computer and installed ubuntu linux on it. The problem is that it's freaking loud and hot. When I first put it in, it made a high pitched noise but I didn't think anything of it. Is that normal? It is a constant sound and never stops. Also, I put it on top of my other hard drive an 80gb seagate , and it got pretty hot. After I shut down my computer, I immediately opened it and took the hd out and felt it. It was really hot compared to my seagate. Is that normal for this hd also?

Everytime I attach my WD hard drive to my Mac, a Time Machine query appears. How do I skip that automatically?
It's an external Western Digital Passport hard drive. This Time Machine dialog appears, wich I'm not interested in using. Though it opens every time I attach this USB disk.

My WD was working perfectly fine before but now my computer won't recognize it. It recognizes my other hard drives. When I click the " Safely Remove Hardware" icon on my desktop toolbar it says USB Mass Storage Device " WD" , but that's it. Is there anything I can do to view the files on my hard drive?

I have bought a Western Digital 250gb Passport essential external 2.5 drive and have put a couple of things on it totaling 720mb in space and went to put a 6.52gb .iso on there note the hard drive hasn't even used up a gig yet and it says the it wont copy because the drive is full and gives me an option to use the disk clean up utility.Now I bought the drive to put a 90gb folder on it, so if it cant handle 6.52gb then its a waste of money.So far I've tried Putting the iso in a folder Using a different root on the drive. deleting some files on the drive and I'm going to try formatting it if I get no more ideas .Please help.P.S I have heard of the is happening before as well so its not just me.

It is a 320gb hard drive and one say my computer just doesn't recognize it. I bought a new one, but need to get this device to just work at least one time to get the data off it. The blue button on the front lights up and it makes a ticking noise but is not recognized. Anything I can do? Thanks

WD Hard drive problems?
I own a WD 500GB sata internal hard drive with 35 mb cache, its my secondary drive and I use it to download torrents and I download a LOT of torrents. I'm constantly seeding them as well. The problem is, this is the second one i've gone through in less then 6 months, the first one one day just started failing on me and giving me delayed write errors while downloading, now this one is doing the same?Am i just extremely unlucky and gotten two defective hard drives or is it something moreI should mention it makes some weird noises now and again, its hard to explain but they dont sound normal

MDL WD5000D032 000hi, ive been using my WD hard drive for about 5 hours watching shows. While im in the middle of my show, the harddrive makes a weird noise the one i hear when it turns off and immediately turns on again then 1 2 seconds after, it repeats.. i have tried leaving it unplugged for 3 4 hours thinking it was just overheated, but when i tried again, as soon as i turned it on, it made the weird noise and began the cycle again. how do i fix this?
